 As the new millennia dawned, I stepped into my professional life. The year 2000 saw me begin my career as a Steadicam Operator, a highly specialized branch of camera operation. And thus began my on-field learning of filmmaking with the stalwarts of the industry.
Working in
the technical department of numerous Bollywood films with noteworthy names such as
Sanjay
Leela Bhansali (Devdas),
Ram Gopal Varma (Company,
Sarkar, Bhoot),
Abbas-Mastaan
(Race, 36 China Town, Aitraaz),
Karan Johar
& Dharma Productions (My
Name is Khan,
Dostana),
Sudhir Mishra (Yeh Saali Zindagi),
Anurag Kashyap (Black Friday, Gulaal, No Smoking), Rakeysh
Omprakash Mehra
(Rang De Basanti), to
name a few, made me sound about the technical nuances of filmmaking.
It is
also my privilege to have been a part of international projects such as Danny
Boyle’s Oscar-winning Slumdog
Millionaire and a crossover tele-series titled “Bollywood Hero”.
Over the past decade, I’ve made numerous short
films, corporate videos, and ad films, many of which have won national and
international awards. I’ve also made an independent feature film as well as
served as writer and DOP on other independent feature films. Furthermore, I’ve set up INDIE FILMS
CHANNEL, a web channel to promote
&
showcase
independent
films.
Working with young and fresh talent, we create original digital content
spanning across short
films, web series,
music videos, and
webisodes,
under my
banner
‘Planet Vix
–
The Independent Film
Company’. We
also undertake content distribution facilitated by our partnership
with India’s
leading
digital
distribution
platforms,
such as MX Player, Hungama
Play, Vodafone Play, among others.
If the content
is king, the budget is queen. Every project is accomplished by placing high
emphasis on these two factors. A picture may tell 1000 words, but a single
frame of a motion picture is a showcase of a milieu of emotions that tell a
story. And a filmmaker is a storyteller.
Here’s to
adding a new chapter to the greatest story of all – LIFE.
